About David Brent
David Andrew Brent began his entertainment career as an electronic music DJ. He performed in some of Toronto’s most iconic nightclubs, including the recently demolished Guvernment Entertainment Complex before he decided to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a comedian. After overcoming performance anxiety, he established himself as one of Canada’s top comics, working in the comedy circuit for nearly 15 years. Brent has since become a YouTube sensation, with his Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation video going viral and reaching almost 2 million views. The former governor of California tweeted about the video, calling it “fantastic.”
About Dan Rice
Dan Rice began his nightlife career as an electronic music DJ in 1993. He played for thousands of people in large venues across North America, including the Better Living Centre at the Exhibition Place. Rice performed on the same stage as many top electronic music groups such as The Crystal Method and played at countless music festivals from WEMF (The World Electronic Music Festival) to Shambhala in British Columbia. When Rice began producing events he booked hip-hop legends Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash and Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys in Toronto.
Dan Rice met David Brent while working at Eastern Bloc record store, which has since closed. Rice began to mentor Brent in his aspiring DJ career. When he saw that Brent had comedic talent he helped him transition into standup comedy, eventually becoming his manager. The duo took their love of nightlife with an emphasis on artist development and guest experience and applied it to comedy events co-founding Brickworks Entertainment.
